I think they understand perfectly well what they're doing to us. They enjoy creating the misery and distress. We're THEIR entertainment.

What misery and distress? The rules are pretty clearly spelled out. Don't violate them and you'll be fine. I've gotten some violation notices and somehow I still find the strength to get up in the morning.
