I have a problem with my screen resolution:

I installed a PC Rom game, everything with that (as far as I can tell...) is fine. However, it told me that the game would run better if played in a different resolution. Being a trusting fool I thought it wouldn't give me the option if my screen wouldnt support it. Apparently I was wrong.
There's nothing wrong with the screen, or the computer themselves. The screen shows the bootup, up until the point (I assume) that the resolution would kick in- my password screen. The screen after that just says "Cannot show resoultion" or something like that. So, Im thinking, there HAS to be a way to change my screen resolution on the boot screen, or something. Anything. Im running XP on a Dell home computer if it helps...

Have you tried booting into safe mode?

On bootup, press F8 repeatedly (and immediately) until you get the option to boot into 'safe mode'. I'm not 100% sure it will work but it should. I believe it uses 800x600 resolution by default.

If you can boot it up this way, use the display settings to set your resolution. Hope this helps.
