My family supports the March of Dimes but, recently, we have been openly confronted by a Catholic group and an environmental group regarding the MOD. The PETA-esque folks claim that they use animal testing that is cruel and inhumane. I question the veracity of this (as I question most of what anyone says while foaming at the mouth about a cause).
Also, frankly, if animal testing will save HUMAN babies...I say to heck with the lab rats. They are rats. Their alternative life is probably being sold at a pet store as snake food.
I don't see how the MOD or American Cancer Society, etc. can come up with experiments resulting in something even resembling causation without testing on animals. I have nothing but a good impression of the MOD and those in their employ. I find it hard to believe that they are doing anything unethical with these animals.
