Simple.The propaganda of their leaders.Dobson,Parsley,etc.

They tell their followers that only they can save America, that everybody outside their particular form of Christianity are evil people who seek to destroy them and by extension,America.

They're told any disagreement,no matter how rational it might sound to others,is an attack, that Satan has rallied the forces of evil around them, therefore they must attack back.

They use fear in their blatant attempts to undermine the freedoms America holds dear. And we sit idly by and let these men get away with it in the name of those self-same freedoms. We are letting these men get away with a slow motion coup.

These men need to be exposed for what they are,Christian Fascists.

The problem is actually a theological one.....and...sorry to say, like the fools that misunderstand Islam and have perverted it, so too are some Christians doing it with their religion.

Christians are charged with spreading the"Good News." That is to say that they are responsible for going out into the world and sharing their theology and beliefs with the rest of humanity. I have actually always thought that that was sort of a sweet thing......The followers of the religion are so concerned with us that they genuinely want to save us.....

But.....the fools that are messing with the religion today totally do not understand their own religion. The conversion has to be done by choice. You cannot force others to believe........So, when they attempt to hijack the government and make us all live by their beliefs, they are neither sharing the "Good News" nor living up to the ideals of their religion.....or our nation.

Certainly, I am not suggesting that those that are perverting Christianity today are no better than those that are doing it to Islam....There have been very few terrorist acts in the name of Christianity. But.....like those goofballs that pervert Islam, the Christian Right is perverting their own religion......

Are they persecuted???? No...and they know it......they just think they are helping all of us to become more godly by insisting that we be just like them.......and removing our free will from the picture.....

I've noticed that some Christian fundamentalists think that they're being persecuted whenever they don't get their way. I'll give you an example. I'm from Arkansas, and about a year or so ago, a woman named Laurie Taylor wanted to get books she deemed inappropriate taken out of the public school libraries in Fayetteville. Of course, she had some fundamentalist supporters, and in response to the heated criticism they received, one of her supporters actually said that she felt persecuted! Excuse me, but that's not persecution! What the Christians of Rome endured during the reign of Nero was persecution. What the Jews in Nazi Germany experienced was persecution. What the Christians in the US are experiencing is NOT persecution! If they honestly think they're being persecuted, then perhaps they should grow thicker skins and read a few history books, so they can find out what REAL persecution is!

It's a new and improved version of political correctness. To them, you can't question what they believe, and you can't introduce any kind of new data or scientific facts---because it goes against their faith. And if there's anything they hate it's somebody talkin' bad about their faith.

Not all Christians subscribe to the religious right's particular brand, of course. But, at it's very worst, at it's down-and-dirtiest, Christianity is a religion based on a book that says:

A. This is God's book.

B. These are God's laws.

C. This is the way God wants us to live our lives.

And the Christian right would like nothing better than to make sure that we base our system of government and way of life on that---instead of any ideas about science, medicine, or what's good for people psychologically------oh, no, we can't have any of that. Because God says here, in this chapter and verse, "THIS is what we must do!"
