Cold water temporarily closes the pores, but you should make sure to wash your face first. There isn't anything to close them for good, but you can get firming masks or lotions which make the pores reduced in size.

A good skincare routine is essential. You dont say if the pores are open all over or if they are concentrated around one area (e.g. the nose or forehead). If the open pores are concentrated around one small area I would agree with some kind of topical approach such as the biore strips (or alternative - they are all the same thing at the end!) to rid the specific area of debris that sits in the open pore. You could then apply a cold compress to close up the pores once you have cleaned them out. If the problem is more widespread you should invest in something like the clinique system which is very astringent and has a specialist Pore minimising range (there is a lightweight cream that you can use all over your face and also a concealer type product that you can use to 'blurr' the look of the pores and therefore minimise them to people looking at you. I personally would recommend to invest in those specialist products but also pay really close attention to keeping your skin clean: this will help long term. Use a good face scrub one/two times per week and do a mud pack once per week. Steaming the face can be good (this opens the pores) as you can then 'remove' the dirt that gets stuck in the pores. You should always follow that with a good tone and then a cool compress to close everything again. I think this should all help for now. Good luck

Pores cannot be shrunk down once they have been enlarged. I don't care what the product package says. You can keep the face clean and occasionally exfoliate the skin, this will keep them from getting clogged. You can also use cosmetics that will camoflage the fact that you have enlarged pores; they do this by diffusing the way the light hits your face, not by closing the pores. You need to get help from a facialist or in extreme cases, a dermatologist.

I am 30 years old and had huge visible pores before I started using "Clean and Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser" I am telling you I got my face back. People started commenting on the fact that I looked much younger. I do not work for the company and I have no reason to say this other than to help you. Try it for a month. You wont be dissapointed

Over the counter products won't do no matter what they say. My mom has the same problem, she had a chemical peeling (with a professional), and though her pores did not dissapear they did reduce in size...afterwards they told her to keep a healthy life style: drink lots of water, healthy exercise (to evacuate toxines), avoid eating too much dairy and to follow a regular routine to clean (twice a day; using wash, astringent and lotion).

I use ponds cold cream cleanser every day, its cheaper than the Clinique system and not as harsh on your skin. Use a warm facecloth to wipe it off then splash your face with cold water. Not only does it help minimise your pores it also wakes you up!
