Your best bet is to see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is the most accurate way of testing. Besides pregnancy, other reasons for period abnormalities include stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. If the blood test comes back negative, your doctor can do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

I had my tubes tied 2 years ago in April and it was December before my period returned. I was so scared that I was pregnant and spent money on tests and just kept getting negatives. When my period did return it was not regular, it has been almost 2 years since my tubal and my periods are somewhat regular now. I wouldn't worry as long as you are not having any pain or displaying other symptoms of pregnancy. It might not hurt to take a test and if you do not have a period soon I would go ahead and check with your doctor, if you do get pregnant it is a strong possibility that it would be ectopic (tubal) and would require medical attention. Keep an eye on it, everyone is different, but as for me, I just have a period when it happens, I never know when it is coming or going. You can get put on the pill to help regulate but if you are like me the tubal was to get off of the pill! Good luck!

the only sure fire way to not get pregnant is to have the ovaries removed...
