I don't know what type of DVD player you have but a DVD drive in a computer allows you to change the regions I believe up to 5 times. After that the last region you have it on (on the 5th time) is the permenate region for the drive. There are software applications that will emulate different regions. You could as a matter of fact use DVD decrypter to rip the DVD and burn it with NEro under a different region. DVD decrypter makes the disk region free.

DVD players are also coded by region. So if you get a region 1 dvd and have a region 2 player they will not work together. Some burning software will let you uncode the copy so you would need to check your dvd software.

It depends if your laptop is region free or not. It is likely that it is coded region 2 for the UK.
But you can still play it you need playback software like power dvd or media player. then you need to get anydvd or dvd region+css free
This software removes the copyright and allows you to play any region you can also copy it to dvd to play on any dvd player

You can change the region code on laptop dvd drives but you only get five chances after which you are stuck with the fifth. If you have a software way around your conversion problem it then use it.

Try playing it with the VLC Media Player, if you get a pop up asking if you want to change regions then it didn't work. If there is no pop up asking you then you can play any region DVD all you want.

Try the DVD in the drive and see if it plays - you only get 5 chances with some drives so make sure you know what you're doing first.

I think it depends on the brand of your laptop... try reproducing the DVD using or installing the Windows Media Plaryer...in your computer .... good luck!
