You have two superb Free Dial-up scanners 1 Trend micro House call, & McCaffe Avert Stinger. Both are easily accessable and very functional. These will scan your computer and are recommened weekly. I would suggest more often. They both also deal with Virus detection & removal. Theres always the old standby Lavasoft AD-Aware SE Personell, Free and effective against SPYWARE, not Virus. It certainly wouldnot hurt to run all three. You should have a good idea depending on where you browse Be Well Jpeppe7 Thers also spybot Search and Destroy but word amongst my peers suggest its more difficult to use and not as effective. Sure ther are a few more ,but I believei I supplied you with the most successfull!!!!

So, are you protected with the best free Anti virus protection? Answer is ( No.)

Go to your computer repair or sales place and ask them to get you a copy on a disk of AVG FREE. This program really works and as a matter of fact the place where I get my Internet through, Midcontinent Communications, uses it. I ordered the Security Bundle from Gateway last fall and it screwed up my computer. Since having AVG FREE, I can go on file sharing websites with no problems at all.

I agree with jpeppe7 answer, there is also Bitdefender free online scan.

If it's a good Free AV program you want Then Nod32 is the best (find it at 9down.com) also AOL are doing a free AV again very good (It's Kaspersky).

For God sake don't download AVG, there the one's who each week write HELP I'VE GOT A VIRUS & AVG WONT REMOVE IT.

Check out my links.

AVG or AVAST for antivirus
Spybot Search and Destroy, for spyware adware ect.
you can get all in one, if you download trial versions, of many other brand names, so its only free for a limited period.

We use AVG - FREE ADDITION and we have never had a problem. Our computer "nerd" we call him set it up for us and it works great...you can schedule it to scan periodically for viruses and it has pop up blockers and scanners too...I don't know all the lingo but he said it was all most people need and it is free.
There home page where you can download the software is below. Good Luck.
