After everything he's done. They were making a big stink about an NFL lineman getting 7 mil WITHOUT a guarenteed contract unlike NBA players. It just doesnt make sense how much NBA players get. You KNOW Artest isnt helping any team win a championship, period. There's a dozen guys in the league that can carry a team to a championship, and he's not even close. Any group of 40 NFL players can make a run any season, and OLine is one of the most important factors. so WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???

Artest will never win a championship. he is a cancer. good defense or not you cant win around him, so 7 mil is way too much.

I'm not much of an Artest fan, either; but it's more because of what an a**hole he is than his playing. Anyway, basketball players have always been the highest paid of athletes. I suspect it's because of the number of games, and the resulting revenue.

When Moses Malone broke the $1 million barrier, the highest paid NFL player (I don't remember who) was only paid $475,000.

Ron Artest is a very good player, but most people look at his attitude. He plays shut down defense and I mean top 5 in the league good. He also has developed a little more on offense, but he plays on a Kings team that really has a lack of talent, with respect to Mike Bibby. 7 million in the NBA really isn't alot, especially for a quality starter like Artest. The reason NBA players make alot more than NFL players is for the reason that NFL teams require more than 2 or 3 quality players and have alot more players on roster. NBA teams average about 14 players where as and NFL team can have close to 60 or 70. And there are not dozens of guys that can lead a team to a championship in the NBA, that is reserved for a small group of maybe 7-8 guys. Even those guys need players like Artest to help the team and win. Sure Artest is not a team leader, but look at how much more the "team leaders" make.
