Is it wise to leave your computer on 24/7?

you can leave it on 24/7 but its not necessarily a good thing, if you leave your pc on all the times the fan will collect lots of dust usually, which could cause many problem if fans get too dusty and they stop working, also there is no need for it to be on all the times unless you are using it.
the best thing to do is when you are not using it set it to go to sleep or hibernation mode.

The idea to leave the computer one 24/7 came from the fact that it use to be hard on the hard drive to boot. i was on the seagate website not long ago and they are saying that with the advancements made over the past years that, that is no longer an issue. is it bad to leave your computer on 24/7? no not really as long as you a a secure internet conection. plus most computers can be set into a hibernation mode when not in use, so that another option other then shutting down.

I also have mine on all the time (except the monitor) as its water cooled so I don't have to worry about it over heating. Another thing is that turning your PC of even one time a day will reduce the overall components file.

I never turn my computer off.......turn off the monitor as that will run you electric bill higher.........

if you have an LCD screen, you can leave that on, but use the screen saver to turn the monitor off after X amount of time

some experts say that leaving your computer on actually extends its life.turning on and off frequently is hard on most all computer parts,most notably your power supply unit.if you know your going to be on and off your computer during the day just leave it on as opposed to turning on then off several times.

no the fan that cools the computer wears out fast
