I don't use it very often as it seems so clumsy but sometimes I do laugh out loud at things I read or even read them out aloud to whoever else is in the room with me which usually results in multiple laughs ( or the occasional Huh?)
I can honestly say I have never ROFLMAO, PML, SML or anything that extreme.
CWL ( crying with laughter) has happened a few times though - usually in Polls and Surveys for some strange reason.......
Why can't we have emoticons on here ?
Maybe I am just un-hip, it took me a while to work out btw, idk, fyi and wtf.

I do! But you know what I find even more annoying.... when you are viewing people on webcam and you are chatting and they type LOL... but you noticed they didn't really laugh. Geez, at least let me have the illusion that you laughed at something I said ... in other words, why the hell am I viewing you?

I prefer and sometimes need the machinations and mechanical feeling when on keyboard; the warmth when dealing with people face-to-face.
So any of those are annoying in my view; especially with MSN's automatic emoticons. Although I can stand it if I know it's manually entered.

I 100% agree with you... Most people start their sentences with "lol"
I ever hated it... It just looks retarded. If you are going to type lol in every sentence, then that means you are dysfunctional in the head. It is just plain stupid.

How about typing ROTFLMAO after their own jokes? Egad!
We need a universal *snicker* or *chuckle*. When I see "LOL", I picture hysterics. Don't fit too well following a mundane turn of phrase, does it?

Sometimes yes if it is funny enough.
I would agree though that it seems that some people use it, just to indicate it, even if they probably aren't really laughing.
Now I am ROTFLMAO
