Life isn't cruel or kind. It just is. Society..., ah now that's different.

To the person with the really long answer...that was beautiful poetry, whether to meant it or not. You should revise it and make it into a poem, that would win big awards. Seriously.
What is life? It depends on what religion you are. Being a Christian, for me life is a chance to enjoy God's glory and believe and praise him and his son Jesus. Our life, and us, were perfect, pure and beautiful, but when we sinned, sin entered the world and maimed our image, brought terrible things onto the earth (like mosquitos), and maimed the image of the world. Heaven is the reward for living you life for GOd, and Heaven is Earth renewed...Earth before the fall. No sadness, hurt, pain, or anything bad. We live in perfect harmony with nature; its conquerers, but still its protectors and stewards. Our bodies are renewed and made perfect, and God lives among us, with us, in plain view. There will be no sun...God will be our light, and everything we do will be done in ecstaty, in utmost joy.
So life is when you face trials, hardship, danger, pain and horror, it is where you learn of love, joy, happiness, and forgiveness, and it is where you follow God, belive in him, even when he tests you with all the worldly pains. That is life.

It's cruel at times, but that's what you have to go through to fully appreciate the good in life.
I love life. Even when times get really tough, you know that it will somehow get better later on.

Not in my experience, but you don't say which life you are referring to. Is it life in general, or the life of living with an addiction; the life of working; the life of being a student; the life of a teenager who thinks all adults are idiots trying to run their lives and make them miserable??
This question would be much easier to answer ( possibly ) if more details were given.

Life is a fickle mistress, at one moment she will give you everything you need, the next she may take it away. Life is not cruel, just tempermental.
