It used to be 100 years but now it is 50 years.
Anything later than that is considered to be collectors item.

The general acceptance period is 100 years, but appreciation for and popularity of "antiques" have come to mean anything 50 years old or more. And it can depend on the item itself. Rare or one of a kind items are sometimes refered to as "antiques". And don't forget collectables. Some Strawberry Shortcake items as well as other collectables are very valuable.

I have always heard that to be a true antique, an item has to be 100 years old.
