What is there to do other than shop, go to bars and gamble (Mohegan Sun) and stare at old Naval vessels? My husband and I have been stationed here, and it's absolutely dreadful! Please enlighten us!

There are lots of hiking and bike trails if you're into that. In the corner of the state you're in, I'm not quite sure tho. I live in NW Connecticut, and it is pretty boring, but we do have lots of trails, and we are lucky enough to be near the NY and Mass. borders. I have a wife and 2 kids, and when it's not freezing out like it is today, we spend lots of time outdoors.

It says something about this area though when you have so many celebrities like Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, Jane Curtin and MJ Fox to name a few who live up here. I guess boring is what they're looking for.

You can visit Hartford: the State House, Wadsworth Atheneum, Mark Twain House. You can go to the Dinausaur State Park. If you like to hike go to the Housatonic Valley (south west). Mystic seaport is really nice (go when it is a nice day) as well as the aquarium. Go to New Haven, nice town and tour Yale University and art gallery.
Also come and visit the rest of New England, go to Boston, tour the Mansions in RI, Cape Cod, Maine and so on... Hope you will adjust, good luck!

Go to Huskie basketball games. (Sorry about that, but you asked an honest question.)
