Actually - in the US areas with higher gun ownership rates have lower crime. Areas with stricter gun-control laws have higher violent crime rates.

Violence is found in the hearts and minds of the people who create and execute it !!
Guns are simply a tool that some of those people choose to use because they are seen as a somewhat easier and maybe somewhat more effective means to an end !!
If there were no guns people would still commit acts of extreme violence if it was in their hearts and minds to do so !!
Guns however, being tools, can also be used as very effective methods of defending Against violence !! And, the ready access to them Also means that people who would commit acts of violence OF ANY TYPE have to at least consider that the people they are intending these acts toward -- just might-- possibly-- be armed to the teeth !!!
So, if a society wants to "reduce the incidents of violence"--- the place to start with this is not from the place where you remove the defences of a vast number of people that they have against all forms of violence ---- you go after the Causes For the Violence !!! And, make it more of a sure thing that people that commit these acts meet with a timely and unfortunate end !!!!
The access TO guns is not the problem--- it is the growing number of people who are of a violent nature in heart and mindset !! And, a huge reason for the major increase in the incidents OF violence can be laid at the door of a judicial system that is far too easy on persons who commit these acts as first and second offenses --- under some kind of "hope for the best thing" that puts these lunatics back out on the streets until they can actually get a couple of people killed---- BUT--- this would be happening --- even if there were no guns--- they would just simply be far more stabbings and uses of ball bats etc. !!!!!!

I am not sure I understand your question...but I have a few things to say about Americans and our right to own a gun if choose to do so.
First off, I grew up in a military family-we like guns...we appreciate them, respect their capability, and understand how and when they should be used.
Second, I live on a farm in a rural area-I have guns to protect my animals from predators and I also hunt for food to feed my family (game meat is much healthier!)
Third, in the Bill of Rights, the lawful ownership of guns is encouraged and accepted as a God-given right. We are the last line of defense. Think about the genocides in this past century (The Armenians in Turkey in 1915, the Jews of Germany during WWII, etc) these people were forcefully DISARMED so they could NOT fight back. In America, we have the Right to keep our guns no matter what (we did see a serious infringement of this right during Katrina-but people like me made it well known to local and federal governments that this will never be tolerated again).
If we took guns away from lawful owners then only the criminals would have guns. That would make for a far worse society than allowing people to legally own, purchase and carry guns. Granted that there are "SILLY" reasons that people shoot others, there are far more stories of people protecting themselves, their family or their home using guns. The media just doesn't want to talk about them. Not that long ago, a story about an 84 year old grandmother popped up on a few news channels. Her home was invaded and the perpetrator was shot in the leg by the Grandmother who was protecting her daughter and granddaughter. When people respect the guns and understand how to use them and when to use them, they are valuable, it's the idiots out there that think it's "cool" to carry a gun around that are the problem and who give law abiding citizens like me and countless others a bad name.

We actually have a much lower crime rate than the countries without guns. We also gained our freedom from England with our personal guns. Our guns are the reason we have never fought a land war on our own soil. And personally if I had to be murdered, I would rather be shot. In countries where there aren't guns people are beaten, burned, and at best stabbed to death. I'd much rather take a quick shot to the head than have someone cut me open.

absolutely everyone who isn't a criminal can acquire a gun. How can any rational man or woman have a issue with that? The gun violence is amazingly usually because of the sale of unlawful drugs. Take out the team violence, and our crime price and penitentiary inhabitants is only about non-existent. it truly is unusual to be criticised by technique of someone who comes from a u . s . depending as a penal colony.

Stay out of our politics.
As long as we have our guns ,we stay free.
No dictator can take over.
Now,excuse me,I have to get some VENISON out of the freezer.
I shot it, dressed it,butchered it and I'm going to eat it.
I don't worry about criminals either.

go to you local court house and watch the cases and the reasons why people shoot people (usually silly ones) and then ask this question again. most Americans did not grow up hunting and shooting so they dont know how to control a gun
