Ann Coulter said: "I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ******, so I'm kind of at an impasse."

Do you find this comment offensive?

These people do.

Several Republican presidential candidates quickly distanced themselves from Coulter. As the New York Times reported, Rudy Giuliani called the remarks "completely inappropriate," a spokesman for John McCain said they were "wildly inappropriate," and an aide to Mitt Romney called the comments "offensive."

“Ann Coulter is known for comments that can be both provocative and outrageous. That was certainly the case in her 2007 CPAC appearance and previous ones as well. But as a point of clarification, let me make it clear that ACU and CPAC do not condone or endorse the use of hate speech,” said David A. Keene, American Conservative Union Chairman.

I wouldn't care if I were John Edwards, but for me I think I am tired of hearing about loud mouth Coulter.... she is so low class.

All political parties disparage each other in the constant struggle to maintain or retain power in Washington. Ann Coulter has every right as an American citizen to speak her mind about whatever she feels.

She is yet another casualty in our celebrity-obsessed culture, where “wanting to be famous” seems to be an ambition of high regard in America. Yes, she’s outspoken, but she’s not the only person in the media arena that is. The only difference is she seems to have political tourette’s syndrome – she can’t help herself when she opens her mouth. She’ll do anything and everything to keep her name in the press, whether her words hold the moral ground or not. She’s an embarrassment to herself and the Republican Party with which she aligns herself.

She did not actually call John Edwards a ‘F****t”, but the inference was just the same. She used a word that is negatively used to describe gays & lesbians. And as an aside, she claims she is all for gay rights, but you cannot use defaming words against a group of people you claim should have equal rights, but leave them holding the burden of inequality.

I think “the lady doth protest too much.”

Ann Coulter does not care about the Republican Party; she does not care about the Democratic Party. The only Party she really cares about is the Ann Coulter Party.

Perhaps the comment was meant to be provocative? Could Ms. Coulter be privy to some heretofore undisclosed info? Could Mr. Edward's perfectly coiffed hair speak to a darker side of his personality? Well, if he were a preacher I think the answer would be obvious. In this case however, the almost attractive Ms. Coulter was just doing a Rosie!

More banal and stupid than offensive, especially coming from someone who Righties regularly declare to be "brilliant".

The bigger idiocy was her appearance on Fox last night where she resorted to the pathetic old canard that this was the left trying to curb free speech, when of course the disavowals came thick and fast from the right and left and, of course, no one was disputing her legal right to say what she said.

I find her remarks no more offensive than I find John Edwards refusal to denounce the two anti-Christian bloggers on his team. Remember, he's a personal injury lawyer. There's nothing that you can call him that he hasn't been called before, and rightly so.

Let's be honest here, both sides are guilty of trying to discredit the other. I guess the offense depends on if the man is gay or not. If not, ****** shouldn't bother him. Thanks.
