I personally believe that "self" is something we don't find, it's something we create through the amount of courage we muster, and through our wills and choices.Anything we practice, we tend to get pretty good at. Things we find fearful like social anxiety for instance can be conquered by practicing what we want to do despite the worst-case scenarios that creep into our minds (which 99% of will never even come close to happening). Don't let these fears win. "Most of our adult fears are like the childhoods "Boogieman" merely a conglomeration of sinister shadows, void of reality". Take care!

Yes I do, but I personally I find it's better to let that idea go. If you have social anxiety disorder, it is part of who you are and part of your self. You can of course work and change yourself, but you are made up of your experiences, diseases, history and a million other things. If you overcome your social anxiety disorder, then a new part of you will be the experience of overcoming your disorder. Good Luck!

No, I know my true self...others may try to project but I definately know who I am.

Social Anxiety Disorder... Huh? Try ballroom dancing or groups where people are creative and usually more social minus the masks. Why hang out with people who tell you you have something wrong with you doesn't that make it worse?
