Yes. He played 12 seasons in the NHL...five each with Detroit and the Rangers and one each with the Canucks and Philly at the end of his career.

Willie was a big (6'5) offensive defenseman and had 104 goals and 217 helpers in 655 career games. His best seasons were his first five when he was with the Wings where he typically was in double figures in goals and 40+ points. Watching him work the power play with Reed Larson was about the only thing worthwhile for the early-80's Dead Wings.

His productivity and playing time dropped off after he was traded to the Rangers in 1983 due to a couple knee injuries. See his career stats and bio below.

Sorry, Willie Uber did not play for the New York Rangers, but there was a Willie Huber that played for the Rangers for 5 seasons, from 1983-1987.

Searching for Willie Uber and/or hockey and/or the NY Rangers didn't seem to bring up any results. It's probably safe to say that he didn't play for the Rangers.

I checked the All-Time Roster on the Rangers website. No such player. Sorry
