Please be as honest as possible. When I say "quietly" I mean that you wouldn't be martyred or given any credit at all for this; i.e., no paradise, no posthumous medals of honor. Also, would you give your life today if it could somehow save the approximately 18,000 children that will die today due to hunger? If you wouldn't mind specifying your political/possible religious persuasion I would appreciate it. Again please be honest and respectful of the seriousness of this question. There are no bad answers that are answered sincerely. Thanks so much.

I wouldn't give my life up if it saved half the population of the planet including my own Mother. It's my life and I'm running it out till I go screaming into oblivion. I'm politically an opportunist anarchist with borderline nihilist tendencies which are overcome most of the time by my hedonist self serving efforts and desires. My religious belief is that there is One Supreme Being that is utterly uncaring and finds our antics amusing, we are the dream, that Being is the dreamer, nothing is real but that Being and our ability to think and perceive is a mechanism for this Universe to rationalize itself, again for the greater amusement of that Being. all is illusion, albeit persistent illusion but illusion none the less. Nothing matters and so what if it did are central to my daily thoughts. I enjoy an elevated lifestyle and travel freely about this world unhindered by what others tell me is impossible because of my belief structure which is awareness, alignment, and allowing also known as the law of attraction. The Universe is endless and abundant as it doesn't exist to be diminished it provides all that the dreams could want if we but want them. Simple, but it works. I hope this helps somewhat in whatever Your attempting to resolve, take care.

There is no honest answer because what your asking is only in theory. As a Christian, I would give my life to save others, but Iraq isn't going to stop with or without US troops or my life. Nor will the violence anywhere else.

Most, but not all, children starve for political reason, not because nobody is trying. I sponsor children in other countries but realize the government in many places want the money for themselves, not their people. India still uses children as disposable slave labor as do many other cultures.

if we can sacrifice 10000 lives to end the violence in Iraq then we should but the Iraq citizens wont see the end of violence until extremists are killed so the right answer is we should but i have yet to meet someone more important to me then my life

Absolutely Not. I have a one year-old daughter and she needs me. I can do much more alive than dead. And even if the violence in Iraq stops, we'll still have much more to do in our own suffering country.
