Barbara is very imaginative and is known to "spice" up stories a bit, making some parts untrue.

After her trip to Hawaii, she was going to tell her mom what happened, but she really didn't do many exciting things. Barbara, being the imaginative thinker she is, came up with a scenario.

"Mom, it was so exciting! I got to see one of the volcanoes erupt, it was amazing! The lava shot a few stories into the air, I've never seen anything like it! Oh, and I was watching a river of lava too! I was only seven feet away from it!".

After her mom heard this story, she knew that a part of it wasn't true. Which part wasn't true and why?

I'm guessing that she wasn't that close to the lava flow because there's so much radiant heat given off by it, that it would be impossible to stand 7 feet away...

Barbara's scenario is impossible to experience and come back alive to tell the tale. Her mother has a better education and understanding of both Barbara and her methods of observation. She could not have stood by a volcano that was shooting lava "a few stories into the air" while watching a river of flowing lava only 7 feet away. You Do The Math!! I hope Barbara's mother, and you, love her very much because you need to try and make her life more exciting. Good Luck!! @8-)

They would evacuate everybody from the area,so Barbara wouldn't be able to stand next to the lava river?
