As Tally says, the ending was only "bad" if you go by the human side of it, I actaully thought it was a happy ending!
If I was still a kid when I saw this, I still would have loved it, but then again I was a dark kid, and read every fairy tale I could get a hold of. In my opinion, it really depends on the kid and their maturity level, I wouldn't say "all kids go see this!" (especially since I wouldn't like sitting in the theater with them) or "no kids see this!" because I'd be a hypocrite if I did. What I think is that the parents should see the film first, THEN if they think their kid should see it, well and good then. After all, the final judgement of what movies children should see lies with the parents, not strangers.

A lot of parents must think so. The theaters were packed with children and their parents. Children seems to get so much out of these movies. Then, they buy them and see them over and over. I was at the theater recently and I saw droves of kids all over the place. When I bought my ticket I asked what movie are the kids going to? She said, Pan's Labyrinth. I said, Oh good. I wasn't going to the one I wanted if all those kids were going to be in there. Some kids probably have bad dreams sometimes. The movies today seem too busy, too extreme in the story line, but the kids seem to know what it's all about.

I thought Pan's was an excellent movie. I think showing children of our world that every ending isn't always a happy one is worth it. The movie only had a bad ending if you looked at it from the human perspective, if you look at it from the otherworldly perspective, she went home. I think kids shouldn't be turned toward only sugary images, life has some really dark moments too. I'm all for protecting a child, but when it comes to art, literature and life, I think they should be able to see the truth about things. Plus the movie wasn't for extremely young children under 13.

i went and saw this movie and had my hopes so high. i loved every second of the fairy tale part it's just the other that disturbed me so badly.it was nothing like i expected. the generals violent actions ruined this movie. i probably will never watch it again. the satyr was great..just a little tall LOL. no the answer to your question is no....the violence was just too much and too vivid for me..and i don't think kids should watch this movie
