Once upon a time I was on my campus lan and picked up a trojan or virus almost daily

since i got off that kind of network i haven't found a single problem...I don't use a firewall, don't use anti-virus, and i download several gigs a week off p2p....i seriously don't know where everyone is getting these viruses from

I trust my own security way more than someone else's. I can verify for myself that my own is working.

I can't honestly say I'd trust Microsoft where security is concerned... ;)

If I parked my car in a car park with a security guard, would I leave the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition? No. The same goes for PC security, so far as I am concerned.
