Most people, while loving their country, also dislike the government. This had come about over years of bashing the government that really gained strength during the 1960s and 70s. Now after years of bashing people feel like they are being lied to. Right now the government could say the sky is blue and people would think it was a government conspiracy.
With this attitude terrorist cells are taking advantage of us. They create phony videos put it on the internet where it's picked up by someone who hates the government and they say "look, here's proof that our government is lying." The only people these conspiracy groups are helping are the terrorists.
