I think the 8th seed for the east will be the FLORIDA PANTHERS and the west will be the MINNESOTA WILD.
Florida is peaking at just the right time and Minnesota pretty much has a solid lead over Colorado.
I don't think Florida can get past the 1st round as Buffalo is just to strong for them to handle.
Minnesota might be able to pass Nashville with their stifling defense, but the Predators are still the favorite to win the series between the 2.

In the East, the 8th seed is between Carolina and the Rangers. Montreal is in contention, but they are in the toughest division in the league (cumulative +25 over 0.500) and are fading fast.
As of now, Carolina is struggling (not sure what rich b is talking about) and the Rangers have been showing some life and have two games in hand. They play in NY on Sunday. The winner takes the seed. Advantage: Rangers. Dark horse: Boston.
In the West, all the playoff teams are determined and the only thing left to determine for them are the actual positions of the teams. There is a 10-point gap between 8th place and 9th.
There is a similar 10-point gap between #4 and #5 and only two points separate #5-8: Dallas, San Jose, Minnesota, Calgary. I think San Jose is the best of this bunch. I'm going to go with Calgary here, possibly Minnesota.

I am hoping the New York Rangers finish in the 8th seed in the East and overcome Boston, Carolina and Montreal. I don't think they'll make it past the first round.
I feel that Minnesota will hold on to the 8th seed. They are currently 10 points ahead of 9th place Colorado. I can see them making a surprise comeback and advancing into the second round, but nothing more than that.

rich b.... is an idiot. Sharks are going to be 5th... not 8th.
The 8th seed is going to be Minnesota for the West. They are going out of the first round though.
For the East, it's going to be a tough one. It's probably NY Rangers... they have more games than the teams ahead. They're also going out first round.

East, Montreal, they make me nervous, but the Sabres will come out on top. West, San Jose, they might have something for Nashville or Anaheim, could be a big upset in the West again.

im going to start with the east .... there will be a tough battle for the final spot but in the end it will be th emontreal canadians take the spot...and they may have a shot against buffaloe or ney jersey... where they finish is anyones guess... montreal has been a proven playoff team for years ..seems to me they have a even better team then last year...even with a first round upset.... dont look for them in the semifinals..the west is wide open.... who ever gets it will be in trouble because theyll get nashville or detroit... will it be colorado? minnesota?edmoton??... i have to go with minnesota..there young and they have been out for a while now... maybe in and suprising some people..

I think Minnesota is going to be awesome, I hope they make it far in the playoffs. If anyone deserves a Stanley Cup it is the fans there.
I also hope that Montreal will make it up to #8 spot. Even though they have had some injuries they really have a great team (Go Habs!)

In the East, I'm going to have to say the Islanders because they are both winning and losing so they will be right there. In the west, it's kinda obvious that its either Minnesota or Calgary, im goin to have to say minnesota!

EAST:I think the rangers will grab 8th.They have 2 more games remaining than carolina and toronto and seem quite hungry for it.
First round exit though.
If not rangers i say panthers.. they are on fire.
WEST:Everyone in the playoff picture will stay there.there is a 10 point differene between 8th and 9th seed and i dont believe colorado has it in them to overcome that space.
I say san jose drops to 8th and loses 1st round.their poor play lately is why they will drop to 8th.Dont know why they are playing this way they have a good team.
