I've got avast! pro which I think is pretty decent but wouldn't mind Kaspersky as well just for added protection. Is it possible? Could I just turn avast off when I wanted to do a scan with kaspersky without any problems. Also, could I have 2 firewalls running at once?

There is no point in running two firewalls, as for running two AV programs, If you was running a poor AV program like AVG then I would say back it up with Bitdefender 8 free AV program they work well along side each other.
Avasti Pro is a good AV program & Kaspersky is better still, they do not work well along side each other.
I would take off Avasti Pro & put on Kaspersky, you do know you can get it for free. (AOL free AV program is Kaspersky & it's free for all).

Two viruses or firewalls running at same time tend to bung up your computer. It is either designed to do that or it legitimately happens.

Some anti-virus don't let you to install two anti-virus. But some let you install two anti-virus. The best way is using only one anti-virus and keep updating it.
