rating 10 out of 10, ok since we got the rating out of the way let me explain, sex that pleases and satisfies both people in the relationship is very important. Most people will tell you, you need good communication, understanding, trust, and a mutual like for several common things and ideas.
however if one partner is not satisfied or feels bad, degraded or used in sex none of the others matter.
both people need to be happy in sex and then it may seem like it does not matter because it is well and whole, but with out said happiness the rest fall apart.

That is a totally subjective question.
Every person's sex drive is different, but I do believe that any healthy (physically and mentally) person does enjoy and desire sex to some degree.
Some of the most recent data on sexual frequency is as follows:
- Married couples make love 98 times per year.-
- Single folks are having sex the least at 49 times a year.
- Four percent of the respondents to the survey claim to have sex daily.
- 57% say they have sex at least once per week.
WHY?
- because it feels good.
- because people find it a way to "bond"
- because it relieves stress
- because it is a "sleep aid"
- because it can be a form of meditation.
In my life, I would rate's the importance of sex an 8.5 out of 10.

Rating the sex life in a marriage is the same as rating gasoline in a car.
Your car isnt' going to move without gas no matter how expensive it is or what kind of engine is in it. Further, when you have gas in your car it isn't the focus of your attention. You are paying attention to other drivers on the road, listening to music, your kids in the back seat, traffic signs, etc. But, as soon as that needle drops below 1/4 of a tank, all of your attention goes to the gasoline or lack thereof.
Sex in marriage is the same way. When you're getting it, the marriage is functional. When you're not getting it, the marriage becomes all about sex. Our focus in marriage is not supposed to be all about sex, BUT the way we take the focus off of sex is to have great sex. God is good.

Within a marriage I would say that sex rates at least a 9.5 out of 10. Sex is a great way to show your love to someone else, to meet their needs, to make up after a fight, to relieve stress, to have some fun, to fantasize and role play, to become completely intimate, to strengthen your marriage, to build toward the future (with kids), the list goes on and on.
What one other thing in a marriage serves so many different purposes???

Extremely. It is a physical need just short of hunger or thirst. It is the greatest physical act you can enjoy and it is a way to physically express affection.
