sure the spring thawings cause a huge ice shelf to disappear within 10 years and has seen a major crack appear in another. spring must go for a very long time in antarctica.

I'm confident mankind will respond appropriately because we already have the technologies to deal with it. And now more new technologies will be developed as Governments and people become convinced of the need for action.

Mainly because a great many intelligent individuals firmly believe that this is not happening as they would rather point to the fact that many of the indications of Global Warming has taken place many times in the past - for example we have actually had close to a dozen and a half "Ice Ages" in the earths 4.5 Billion year existence, as well as a thinning of the Ozone layer that was certainly not caused by auto emissions. -.
And there have also been many times when the Glaciers melted and the seas rose - without any evidence of the Greenhouse effect caused by man or his industrial complex.
But - When you take all of these things into consideration and dot the i's it is very easy to come to the logical conclusion that Global Warming is in fact happening and the it is a serious threat to mans existence and will be more so in the immediate future unless we immediately do something about it.
Of course having Bush in the White house is certainly not helping the situation!

People aren't finding the so called facts compelling. I believe that its an issue but there isn't enough substantial proof that says this is something humans can do to reverse it. Simply following the ideas of a free lancer like Al Gore, whom I remind you is a politician at the end of the day, isn't what should be driving Americans and human beings to change their habits. We as human beings should lose our ideas of consumerism and search for the truth. Question things constantly and allow for free thought and reason to be applied to situations like this. Not following the dogmatic ideas of imbeciles with no real credibility on either side of the issue, eg: Rush Limbaugh, George Bush, Al Gore.
Simply following these people are going to do nothing but divide us more deeply. Al Gore's documentary should have been about Americans seeking out the truth on their own. Eventually we all would come to the conclusion that Global Warming is fact and that its highly probable that humans are the cause. Eventually we'll work as a society to correct it. But until then you should be more focused on explaining the why's and how's and less on the "its true because he said" so's.

Most people DO accept that global warming is happening. What they don't accept is that it is PROVEN that man has contributed anything significant to it happening and that it is even a bad thing.
Until that is done, it would be the equivalent of saying to a man with a growing sore on his leg, that we THINK it is due to diabetes and the only thing that we can do is cut off your leg to keep it from becoming gangrenous. The sore might be from any number of causes and there could be dramatically less drastic solutions to its treatment. It might even heal on its own with some simple precautions.
The global warming fanatics want to go directly to amputation without proving the cause and that anything other than simple remedies are indicated.

Biggest problem with trying to come to terms with global warming is that the issue is politicized. Gore tries to use the issue as a political catalyst for his stupid campaign. Gore is a global warming nightmare. When an issue is politicized is seems as though it ceases to have any progress and if one person holds this view out, then people will deny the very existance of the issue. Fundamentalist ministers will deny the existance of global warming becuase they feel its a left view and if they accept global warming they are siding with abortionists and gays. Yeah, I told you its wacky when something goes political. But then the leftists embrace people like Gore who is an environmental outlaw just because they live a protest lifestyle and will oppose anything which in turns cheapers those issues. So when someone like Bush speaks out and says da yeah he tinks its true, it does more good than all of the unbathe protestors and left wing politicans combined to bring acceptance to the idea that we have to do something to reduce the effects of global warming.

I am amazed at the amount of ignorance and unconcern I see everyday! When you look at the population as a whole, "people" are either totally unaware, or are more worried about having to wait in a long line at the airport to vacation on one of the islands!! This president of ours needs to start concentrating on how he can inform "his people" about the seriousness of "our planet" in a way that wont cause total panic, and stop his big idea of sending our young men over to a part of this planet that is soo barbaric that they think nothing of cutting heads of the shoulders of innocent people! We the people.....
need a straight forward lesson in life. I have ordered and will be receiving today, the documentary: "The Inconvenient Truth"....which tells it like it is!! It should be aired on TV on all channels as an EMERGENCY BROADCASTING! Put your fingernail polish, and cell phones away, and open your eyes to what is happening to our planet! Get the movie I've mentioned, and find out what is happening to OUR world....

Allison: Global warming is a 'NATURAL OCCURRENCE", and there is basically nothing we can do in a "controlling" way to change it....
The earth has been in "global warming" ever since the last Ice Age some thousands of years ago....
NO, Man did not cause it, regardless of what some politicians and so call scientist say... Helped a little ,maybe, but not the cause of it.........
Global warming will continue no matter what man does or not.....
So lets stop all this wailing and whinning and all those things that the Chicken Littles of the world do...................

The globe is actually in a cooling cycle right now. The polar ice caps are growing, the frost line in North America is moving south, and the pictures you see of glaciers falling apart are usually spring thaw.
(North America is actually having a really bad winter this year.)
