Clary Sage is best used once labour has started to keep contractions coming strongly and ensure that labour is not too slow.
Of course, if your labour is very fast then it is not advisable.
It also has a very relaxing, warming and extremely calming effect, which is why it may start labour in a Mum who is stressed and her stress is delaying labour.
You can mix with almond oil, and lavender oil if wanted, and add to the bath, or burn it in an oil burner or use (very diluted) for massage.
It is also useful after birth for encouraging the placenta to come away, massaged diluted onto your abdomen.
You could also check you have plenty zinc in your diet/supplements as zinc is needed by your body to produce the hormones that will start off labour.

Why would you want to induce your own labour? Leave it up to the professionals to induce labour, please.
I am a midwife and have seen some tragic results from women who, for reasons best known to them (boredom? convenience?), have self induced using home and herbal remedies.
Your baby is the one who decides when they want to be born and there is a very good reason for this.
The only time that induction is recommended is when there is either a problems with the mother's or baby's health, or when the baby is postmature and there is a danger that the placenta may cease to function effectively, depriving the baby of oxygen.
If you must perform DIY induction then stick to the less dramatic ways - having sex, or doing a lot of walking fro instance.

sure you could use sage oil, but why not have some fun in the process?
have intercourse with your husband and let him ejaculate in you...the semen has an enzyme that can hasten dilation and effacement...it may be akward, and you guys may laugh, but what the heck!!! in a few years you may end up laughing about it...
when i was a resident, an old black nannie that i worked nightes with would tell these mothers to go down to the can and warm up the back seat...sureenough, they would come back and be in labour...
good luck

Why would you want to enduce labor at 39 weeks, you made it this far... and I can assure you (as I had 4) that that little bundle of joy will arrive as soon as it is ready (let it finish cooking)

you can try a few drops in a bath. SOME PEOPLE swear that it triggers labour, if your baby is not ready to come then it probably won't - but at least you'll have a nice soothing bath!
