Can't go wrong with Honda. I have a 2002 Accord and have had no problems from it. My dad has a 1988 Honda Prelude and has no problems with it. The only cons Honda has is the paint job. They have very cheap paint that chips and rusts. The interior and the engine are both great, but the outside isn't. That's the only problem you will have from Honda.

Absolutely, I have owned 3 an 86 LX, a 96 LX and now an 02 LX all 4 cylinder models.
Pros:
Aside from standard maintenance (tune up, oil changes, brakes, etc.) I have never sunk a dime into an Accord repair wise. Older Accords like mine also have a timing belt that needs to be replaced, but the newer Accords 2003 and up have timing chains.
Gas mileage, my 02 which is a standard averages 30 to 31 MPG.
My 86 had 150k miles on it when I sold it, my 96 had 145k miles on it when I sold it and my current 2002 now has 90,000 miles on it and it is still running strong.
Great resale value.
Cons:
Boring, bland styling you certainly will not get noticed in this car.
Lack of power from the 4 cylinder model at least in my current 02 model, splurge for the V6 if you can afford it.

I think if you buy either the Accord or Civic you won't be disappointed as either of these cars are great. Both hold their re-sale value, so that if and when sell your car in the future you will get top dollar for it.
Both get wonderful gas mileage. The only thing that I would worry about is people love to steal them. Put a lo-jack on it. My daughter has a Civic and she loves her car. She has had it for about 2 years or so now and is totally happy with it. From what I have heard both cars are equally great all the way around.
They will hold up well and get great gas mileage, and keep their resale value. So I don't think that you have too many things to worry about.
Your only problem will be: What color do I want and do I get a two door or four door? Really though either is great.
Happy Car shopping.

I have a 97 Accord and have been very happy with it. Over 150,000 miles and still going strong. It has been very reliable and has never had any major issues.
I wish it were a little less "ordinary", but it was a good investment. My friends that have "flashier" cars spend a fortune just to keep them on the road. Mine's been paid off for 5 years and I now have enough in the bank that I can buy my next car - cash!
These cars are built to last. Rock it till the wheels fall off!

I've owned two Accords, and just bought a new CRV. I think Hondas (or Acuras) are the best cars for the money -- no contest. Toyotas are well made & reliable too, but most of them handle like Buicks (poorly). They are also tops in resale value, so when you do sell it, you'll get back more of your investment.

I have a 89 DX and I can honestly say its the best car I ever own. being so old the only thing I had to replace was the hoses and tires, I've changed oil a few times, it has 150,000 miles on it and still strong, I've seen them still running strong with over 311,000 miles on them, only thing wrong with them is the 4 cylender is kinda slow on the pick up so try to get the V-6 if you want power, mine I've gotten up to 105mph but once you got to 5th gear the pick up is so slow with the small motor its not a car to be racing. but I love it its a wounderful car.

if your into coupes wait till 08 and get the new altima coupe or accord thats coming out. If not its always best to get a honda accord because:
They are very dependable
The parts are easier to find
good on gas
They hold more resale value
