I have been to my doctors office 3x's. I saw the PA once, then the doctor once, then the PA again. (PA = Physician's Assistant) She never gives me any medicine. And I called back yesterday because I am coughing from my chest, green mucous coming up. And she send me for blood work. And said I can't be seen until I get the blood work. I am about ready to talk to the doctor about this. What if I have pneumonia? I could get worse without medical care.

YES YOU CAN:
Says right here:
"The doctor may not like having to treat you, but you cannot be refused care."

The doctor is not refusing medical care; the doctor is merely performing tests to see what can be done for you. They would need the blood work to come up with an accurate diagnosis. If you have a cold, then you don't need antibiotics.

If the doctor perscribed the wrong medication, then you would sue him as well.

The physician is NOT refusing medical care. You have been sent for blood work. The doctor is NOT going to prescribe medication for you until/unless he knows what is going on. If you aren't running a fever, there is no need for antibiotics.....The blood test will reveal if you have an inflamation in your body...then the doctor will know a course of action, if any.

Many Doctors use PA's, who are well trained. If the PA thought there was a serious illness, the doctor would have been in to see you.

Until your blood test results are in, take a coupla aspirin, buy some Robitussin cough medicine, drink lots of liquids and quit trying to figure out how to get something for nothing. There are a lot of really, really sick people that need immediate attention - you are obviously not one of them.

Not every cold is pneumonia, and not every upper respiratory illness can be treated with antibiotics - viruses, which are the culprits in most respiratory problems are not responsive to antibiotics, and in fact the indiscriminate use of antibiotics has caused "supper bugs" or true bacterial infections that cannot be effectively treated with antibiotics.
I suggest if you feel that you are in danger or your health is worsening that you take responsibility for your own health care and either seek emergency treatment or another doctor.
You cannot sue your doctor because you want something he won't give you - in fact I am rather impressed that he is sticking to his guns and not treating what is likely a viral illness with antibiotics. The blood work will be beneficial in determining what the next step will be.
Medicine is not magic, and pills don't cure everything. Somethings just need to run their course .

Well, the blood work IS part of your medical care. You need some baseline labs to see what exactly is going on. It would be negligent, poor medical care to simply prescribe a medication to you blindly. Your PA is doing exactly what he/she should. Like most other people who complain about their medical care, I suppose you want them to just write you a prescription for an antibiotic. But antibiotic abuse (over prescribing, prescribing when no bacterial infection is present and not taking antibiotics as prescribed), has lead to resistant strains of bacteria such as mrsa and vre. Instead of wasting your time online, go get your lab work.

The sueing thing is a big lie. You know, repeated until it is believed with passion. The whole sue thing does not work. People are on their own. You have to think self-preservation and prevention instead of blame.
