At night wear bright clothing or reflective clothing that drivers can see you. A reflective safety vest is best, orange with reflective tape.

Walk on the left side of the street so the traffic closest to you is oncoming. With oncoming traffic in your sight you can attempt to avoid if the vehicle swerves toward you, things thrown from or fall off vehicles, etc.
