This sounds weird but it worked for me. If you can chase down where they're coming from, put cinnamon in that spot. They won't cross it. I found a corner of a kitchen window and put the cinnamon in there. I was amazed, they were gone. A girl at the office told me about it.

1. Keep the entire house thoroughly clean at all times.
2. Take the trash out every night and keep it a can with a tight fitting lid.
3. Weather seal all your doors and windows.
4. Don't leave food or your pets out all day. Train them to eat at certain times.
5. Store dried foods in air tight containers.
6. Keep your yard free of clutter and brush, keep the lawn mowed.
7. Use yard/lawn pest control granules around your house.
8. Get on a regular service contract with a reputable pest control company.

I have an ant problem too and I use Terro. It's a gel like poison that you place on a peice of cardboard. You can find it at Lowe's. It attracts the ant to it they eat it, and take it back to the colony and poison the rest of them. It's never completely clear up my ant situation, but it really helps cut down on them. Plus it help contain the to one spot. Also try following them to the place they are coming in the sealing up that spot.

Hire a good exterminator. They know how to deal with access points and what chemicals are suitable should you have young children or pets in the home.
