The republican party. Why do we allow liberals to claim our heritage when they still seek to entrench minorities in poverty?

Yeah, what happened to that party? It got taken over by a radical right wing group which drove anyone who still harbored these equitable thoughts. Instead we get Rush, DeLay, Ney and Bush. Sad to see an honorable party destroy itself for such a narrow ideological niche.

And you guys can say this stuff, but you sure don't believe it now, now do you.

The Republican Party of 2007 is party that has moved to right and is under the influence of the Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson and other TV ministers. The party of the big tent is open to those who are pro life, pro gun, anti gay, anti environment, tax cuts for the wealthy, oppose the minimum wage and other progressive ideas.

Yes it was the party the freed the slaves but over the years the party of Lincoln has not turned its back on the issues of civil rights

Interesting question. Liberal Democrats have hijacked republican issues over time. Since the Democrats are the tax raisers to pour money into welfare and social programs the generational welfare recipients believe this is their party.

I once asked an African American co-worker "Why was she voting Democrat?". She replied,"Because I'm black." She wore a look on her face as if I was ignorant. As I explained to her the ideology of Republicans lowering taxes not only for the rich and how it stimulated the economy to create opportunities for her and her family to advance economically she became more open minded in political ideologies . She was a hard working woman in the professional arena and began to actively campaign for George Bush senior.

Kudos to the previous response by Scott , & maybe some of the wise words he posted will help others choosing to indulge in destructive behavior to eventually become a part of the solution .

Anyone who can read knows we face challenges in this country, & maybe if we can rechannel some of the negative BS emanating from Americans w opposing views we can reach some common ground solutions which make being a citizen of this country even more fulfilling!!

C'mon folks, any kid in junior high (oops we can't call it that any more!!) I meant to say any kid in "middle" school can come up w more creative "digs" than people get so proud of on this site.

Being a leader takes some effort.......being a critic takes nothing more than a keyboard & some hate.

Excellent question. I could never understand afro americans voting blindly for democrats when most of them ie. Rober Byrd et al voted against every civil rights piece of legislation that came down the pike. The Democrats have a vested interest in keeping afro americans feeling like persecuted victims since it is a large part of their political base and they pander to them ever chance they get as witnessed by Hillary Clinton in Selma the other day. She uses a phony black southern accent to address the gathering.

It was rational liberalism that freed the slaves, gave women the right to vote, supported civil rights. Do you own a history book?

If you tell a lie enough times people will believe it
the dems have told and retold the story so many times even they believe it.
Look at the schools, the belief that minorities are dumb caused the schools to be dumbed down to that level. Now,you can't get a first class education in the public schools.
The fastest way to cause someone to fail is to try and do it for them.

I am a conservative republican, but I must chide you for your question. Your rhetoric serves no purpose but to stir up the divisiveness that has been plaguing our country since the Viet Nam war. I'd rather see us work together where we can find common ground, and calmly and intelligently discuss our differences of opinion. We may even learn a thing or two from the other side.

The republican party you refer to is NOT the republican party of today.....

Check your facts and read a little history.

The G.O.P. has become a different entity. If you knew an iota about history, you'd know that the modern G.O.P. fought social security, civil rights, womens rights, unions, raises in the minimum wage, medicare, etc.

At around 1930, the G.O.P. became the official rich and callously indifferent party. They keep bubbas such as you drugged and compliant by talking fundamentalist morality all the time.

FACTS!!!
