i have an agreement with my parents that says if i am in a vegetative state and am only being kept alive with the help of a machine. unplug me. and they have asked the same of me. it is in writing and the documents are at our lawyer's office for use when and if the time comes.
we sat and discussed it and aired all our pro's and con's and came to the conclusion that was the right thing for us to do.
i could never participate with someone that i don't know well because of all the factors involved including family.

Yes I do.
Too many people are hung up on quantity of years over quality of life - no one should be forced to live more years if they are only going to live them in pain and suffering. If they want to live that's fine, but if they would rather have a respectful, shortened life then that is their perogative.
I would rather be six feet under than drooling on myself completely dependent on others and detached from society completely. If anyone finds me in that condition - kindly give me "pillow therapy" please.

The thing that kills me about euthanasia is that people get all up in arms over animals who suffer with illness - "oh how can they let that poor animal suffer like that" - well what makes Fido better than Grandma? Doesn't Grandma have the right not to suffer?

Wow...this is a touchy subject. Well if its an adult..It would have to be in a will. And if its a child, I say NO! Let them decide that when they get older. Unless they are on life support, it is the parent's decision!

Yes, I believe we should have the choice for the situations where there is extreme pain and no chance of recovery. This has to be regulated by independent assessors to ensure there is no chicanery.
