This guy ( that I'm interested in) always asks questions like , "how are your children?" "when do you work till?" "what nationality are you?", harmless meddlesome things like that. But once I tried to ask him if he "have any kids?" he went hesitant. Why's that?

I don't think it has anything to do with his sex, it is just how he is. I have found that most men like to talk about themselves.

Maybe you caught him off guard by actually asking him a question. Its possible that the answer embarrasses him. Maybe has children out of wedlock, or by different mothers.
It could also be that he had a child that died and doesn't wish to speak of it.
Anyway, as long as the questions are harmless, there doesn't seem to be any malicious intent. Maybe he thinks your cute or available and is just showing an interest in you.
Some people just try to be friendly by acting interested in you. If he makes you uncomfortable, simply tell him so. Good luck.

Well, I am NOT defending him, But he might think you are asking in a way as indicating YOU WANT kids. NO, I don't mean anything bad on your part. BUT if his mind is not mature enough he may very well be mis-interpreting what you are saying/asking. And if he this secretive then maybe you're looking at the wrong guy altogether. Sorry.

Rose and Jason may be right but then again, men are not great at sharing their thoughts,emotions,etc. thinking it is supposidly mannish to be the strong silent type which makes for complications in a marriage,i.e a communication problem and communication is a vital part of a relationship.

Why ask why? All you need to do is equip yourself with the knowledge that you want more than that and if he's unwilling to give more it will be obvious, then you have all the answers you need, and you'll know what to do when you realize that.
