They are both fit and healthy at the moment. And at 60 ish they could still go on for another 20 years! They have mainly been in the restaurant business but this is an extremely stressful business and needs the watchful eyes of the owner 24/7. I am trying to think of a business that they could grow old with. I thought of a cycle shop/cycle hire shop. It's not too complicated and normal hours. Dad's quite good computer-wise so could do website and on-line sales too. Just wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

You don't say where they are, what their interests are or how vigorous/healthy they are.

I know a lot of older people are crying out for someone that could help with gardens and odd jobs but find young people intimidating. If your parents got it started then they could gradually move to behind the scenes and work like an agency. Otherwise what running a holiday let?

Have you consulted them? They may just want to relax and enjoy their retirement. Running any business even a small one can be very stressful.
