No problem. Go to a site like "Freeware.com" and see what anti-virus programmes you can access from there ( there are several ). Among free programmes AVG free anti virus does have a good reputation - but there are others. Notice that some are only "free" for a trial period - but there are things that should suit your own needs. Yahoo has some security tools, as do a number of ISPs, but these may not be enough if you go to a lot of web sites. Good luck, hope this helps.

Avast! is head and shoulders above AVG or Avir or any other imo.. It even comes with virus database recovery which when activated will scan and fix programs/files that have been infected previously. (only use this if you're not using the comp or have a high end machine as it is a bit of a ram hog). It's saved my butt a few times as it scans exe files as you're downloading them and a must have if you're using p2p or torrents as it has an easy file scan, just hover over the file you want scanning, right click and scan. Highly recommended for anything you've just downloaded..

Anyone who laughs at a college student trying to save money shouldn't be on here. So get Avast Home. I've used it for three years without a virus getting past it, and it's free for life. It updates every time you log onto the internet, so it's never out of date. Good luck!

download and install AVG virus scanner which is free and also very good. Another thing you can go to trend micro systems site and can perform an online virus scanner which scans your system and removes all the virus and spyware and this is free of cost but this will not prevent any virus entering your system.

AVG is free and you are not going to get better virus protection if you pay for it.

Sometimes the Internet provider has one for free, for example I get my Internet through Rogers and they provide a free virus protection that is good, enquire and find out with yours.

Nothing is for free, if you want safe protection you need to buy it, if ppl tell you to get shareware then you might get a virus, not worth it.
