Yesterday I upgraded from 1024 mbps to 2048 mbps. Even though I upgraded, when I move my mouse over the little computer on my start bar (by my clock) it says Speed 100.0 Mbps. Is this right? What should my speed be in mbps and kbps if I upgradedto 2048 mbps? Is there anywhere to go to get a speed test? If so, at what speed should my computer be running at? And finally, is 2048mbps fast? I mean, I don't know how much faster I can get.. my cable company stops at 2048mbps. Is this good? Thanks!

The speed that a computer receives from a subscribed speed is throughput. e.g. if you have a connection for 2048 mbps, your system may, in extreme cases, or may not, which is likely, to connect the internet at that spped.
The best option to find out your connection speed is to do a speed test that can help you determine the exact speed that you are receiving from your ISP.
Use the links to do a speed test:

100 mbps where you are talking about refers to how fast your connection is to your access point (your router or modem). after that you ISP takes over for your internet speed. You could go to www.dslreports.com for a free speed test of your ISP's internet speed.

If you want to check the true speed of your connection try the link below. Spped also is determined by the quality of your computer hardware. Not much, but a little.

In regards to a speed test, here in Australia, there are several places to do this for free, and so, there should be similar where you are.
Search for 'broadband speed test', and see what you get offered.
