I would go with Emma on this one, I am just wondering how you actually managed to con the poor girl into visiting you

Run the tap and squeeze some washing up liquid out into the running water - your sink/basin will fill with lovely bubbles where you can steep your dishes and use a cloth/scourer to clean them. Rinse them under the tap to get rid of the bubbles and you are ready to start drying them.

Wash your bedsheets as cottons, at 40 degrees. Put about half a cup of washing powder in the drawer, and a cap full of fabric softener.

I find bleach best for cleaning the toilet bowl. It can be used for the sink as well and tiles, so can be used to effectively clean the kitchen and bathroom.

If you look up the yellow pages you will find a number for skip hire - although I am not aware of any discounts that you would be eligible to receive - that would depend on the company.

Do you have a spare shelf in your wardrobe? You could use this to store your mags/videos or perhaps an old suitcase or even just an empty cardboard box in a cupboard somewhere.

It should be safe enough to smoke near aerosol air fresheners.

Throw a tidy up party invite all your mates and tell them no booze until the place is sorted, surely some of them must have a clue on cleaning a house.
The washing up liquid squeeze a small amount into HOT water and wash.
Carpet problem buy a carpet freshener and open windows grab a pair of tongs and pull make sure you hoover.
Put your bedding on at 60 degrees but if your place is as bad as you describe buy new ones and hoover your mattress.
Clean your toilet with neat bleach leave it to sit in the bowl for a long time and buy a little blue block for the cistern.
Use a spray on the sink .
try looking up the yellow pages for skip hire. You can discuss discounts with the company.
Get a big storage box with a lid and Lock and put your stash of mags and movies in it.
Don't smoke near aerosol unless you want female guest to visit you in the burns unit at hospital.
Ask your mum round she'll tell you how to tidy ,
Or pay for a hotel room and show the female a good time.
And keep the place tidy and the next time it won't cost you much on getting it straight.

So you have only a few small problems then? Worry not, i have a few suggestions.

Firstly, i can explain each of the questions
1)Just squeeze a small amount of the liquid into your washing up bowl and then add warm water to wash your pots.
2)Im not sure what you mean about the socks - sorry.
3)Bedsheets - about 40degrees. You could always buy some new ones so that you always have a set whilst the others are in the machine.
4)Go to your nearest supermarket and buy a toilet brush and toilet cleaner - go down the isle with washing powder, washing up liquid etc. Put the liquid in around the bowl and scrub with the brush. Get a cloth and clean the rest of the toilet with something like cif or a spray cleaner.
5)Cif or spray cleaner are great for sinks, baths, kitchen sides etc. Or bleach - but be careful not to get it on your clothes.
6)Check on the internet for skip companies
7)Ask the company if you can get a discount or search for best prices on the net
8)Look in the argos catalogue - get a storage unit for your belongings.
9)Smoke outside if you dont want your house to smell of smoke. freshers mask it only slightly!

Also, my last piece of advice - if you tidy your house you could always employ a cleaner that would sort your house. Look on your local newspaper. It may cost about £10 an hour but sounds like you need the help.

Finally, good luck!

If only I could come over and help! I'm sure you know the answer to these, anyway. Wash your sheets at 40 degrees - use a good product such as non bio 'Persil' ( bio might make her skin itchy) and a fabric conditioner such as 'Comfort' to make them smell lovely. Flush the loo, then squeeze thick bleach all around the bowl and leave it for an hour or two. Repeat each day and scrub with a loo brush if it's really dirty, and don't forget to wipe all round the rest of the loo with disinfectant. Best product for cleaning baths and sinks is 'Bath Power' - it works really well. Recycle the magazines, put the videos in a cupboard or drawer, and open the windows now and again! Oh, and give up smoking. OK?

Someone else mentioned charcoal. Get rid of those smelly air fresheners. I have the perfect product that I've used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. It works so much better than baking soda and all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. Just place a few around problem areas. I use this product everywhere including car, storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying.

Maybe you should let her see what you are really like, then she can decide whether or not you're a lost cause!! Sounds like it to me. Toilet bowl- use a good all round bleach like domestos, in a directable bottle. Buy some anti-bacterial wipes from the supermarket and use these to wipe round the seat the lid and the outsie of the bowl, you know you boys aren't so good at aiming as you like to think you are. Bedding should always be washed on 60C; this ensures the bed bugs are well and truly deaded!! Also whilst they are washing, open your bedroom window and let the air in. Does wonders to freshen up the bed. The sink needs something like Cif. Buy some of those baskets that are all the rage at the moment, they could be used for stashing your mags etc. Don't have fire near air fresheners!! Give up - you'll feed better. Good luck

A good way to clean a toilet bowl, tip a cheap bottle of coca cola down it - leave over night, then give it a good scrub with a loo brush with cooking salt.

I take it you mean old socks SMELL? Get some SHAKE & VAC or something similar - tip it over the carpet - leave over night then hoover it up in the morning.

Store your videos and books in the garage, car boot?

If you have never washed your sheets before I should think you want the highest setting!

I think you should look in the local Yellow Pages and find someone to come in and give it a once over! lol

Good luck!

I have to agree!!! Take your mother to a very nice hotel....... after she sees your place, she'll thank you for it!!!!!

Otherwise, you'd better HIRE A MAID!!!

No, don't smoke; don't ever smoke at anytime anywhere!! It stinks!!! Read the label on the bedsheets....... some of them can be washed w/bleach....... if they can..... definately USE BLEACH!! Strong bleach..... CLOROX. And plenty of it. With HOT water on normal. (again, read the LABEL)

Gee: go to the dollar tree store & buy toilet bowl cleaner w/a brush. And buy clorox powdered cleaner for bath, sinks, & counters.

Mags & videos?? Gee, are you two??? I guess so......... buy a container that fits under your bed & throw them all in it. Oh yeah, use a bed skirt so your mother doesn't see..... since you are so concerned!!!

Oh yes, they have RESOLVE carpet cleaner. And don't forget the oven cleaner!!! Window cleaner..........

Oh heck!!! Give it up!! Just go hire that MAID!!!!

Oh dear.
Ingrained carpet socks? No point in using a boilwash on the bedsheets then - they'd only disintegrate. Still better that than sitting there in all their pizza enhanced, oily glory.

I suggest you take a can of red paint, daub 'intallecshuls out', 'f*** of back 2 mensa' etc all over the walls, camouflage the socks with the remainder; pretend you got burgled and offer to take her to a hotel.
