If your dad is dictator, you can be a delegate. ;)

They have interns. Go to their website, and click "jobs" on the top line. See if any of those fit your expectations, and check back regularly.

If in doubt, apply anyway. Rules are made to be broken, dreams aren't.

The United Nations have different agencies, which requires different qualifications. First identify which agency you want to work for -- from United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to International Labor Organization (ILO) to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

If you are an "unexperienced graduate" the most you will get are administrative type positions or Research Assistants, at best. There are two types of employees at the UN -- the general services staff (GS) and the professional services (PS) staffs). PS staffs pay is significantly higher than GS staff, and typically requires at least 5 years experience and an advanced degree (masters degree is the minimum requirement while PhD is better)

I suggest you go to the job center of the UN. This page has links to the jobs/career pages of all the UN agencies - look into the qualifications and determine which agency you'd most like to work with http://www.unsystem.org/jobs/job_opportunities.htm

I want to work for the UN as well. I have just finished my MA degree in international politics.

You have to have a look at their website careers page. That is where ALL the main positions are advertised. My professor was advising me that the best thing for me to do would be to get an internship with the UN first. Not only does that establish contacts but also it gives you the relevant experience within the UN.

What area of the UN do you wish to work for: UNICEF etc? You may wish to send them a speculative CV as well.
