I am just over 6 weeks pregnant. I had a scan last week because the doctor thought I had an ectopic. On the scan there was no ectopic, but the gestation sac was big and empty. The sonographer said that I had to come back the following week (tomorrow) to get re-scanned to see if the baby has developed. But, in the past week my pregnancy symptoms have increased. I am beyond exhausted, I can barely drag myself out of bed in a morning, and my breasts are very heavy and aching. This is all new and have appeared after my last scan. If it is a blighted ovum (empty gestational sac) would I still get new symptoms? Am I just worrying over nothing? This is my first pregnancy, so I am a little anxious to say the least!!

hunni i had exactly the same thing happen to me. we had been trying for a baby for 4 yrs all tests said we were fine but no baby!
Anyway i started getting a strange pulling sensation in my pelvis and some pain, friend suggested doing a test and when it came back positive told me to call nhs direct who sent me to a and e thinking it could be ectopic.
well, long story short, i had a scan when i was 6 weeks and told that it wasn't ectopic but was to early to see the baby only the gestation sac and to go back following week for another scan to check for a foetal pole. anyway, following week i went back..nervous as anything..and there it was.....i was able to see heart beating and they showed us the blood flow from me to baby, it was amazing to see and i haven't stopped smiling since!! baby is due in 3 days, so try not to worry, I'm sure it will be fine!

Did you get a heart beat? have you have Bloods done?

My first pregnancy sounds just like this. I had ultra sound after ultra sound and no heart beat. At 7 weeks I started to bleed and it turned out it was a molea Pregnancy. This is very rear about 1 in 2000 chance and it is not always a very good out come. I am no doctor or nurse I can only tell you what happen to me. I had heaps of blood test and my HPC levels would triple everyday.
It is sort of like haveing a fake pregnancy but not. I had to have a D& C asap because if the sack mixes with the womb it cause cancer. I than had to have a blood test every month for a year. It has something to do with to many x's or y's getting through.
My boobs hurt so much it was unbearable at times and you are just so sick.

I hope this helps
Google Molea Pregancy and check out a few sites.
I may be way off here and I hope I have not hurt your feeling.

P.S I had to wait a year to try again and I now have a lovely little girl...

I had an ectopic pregnancy so when I got pregnant again they immediately did a scan to check the pregnancy...I was around a month or a little more and the sac was empty as well. I now have a healthy toddler, so relax. I am sure all is well.

I am also just over 6 weeks pregnant and I had a scan last week. My gestation sac was also empty but I was told this was nothing to worry about. I hardly have any symptoms at all, just a little tummy pain now and again.

I'm sure everything is fine, just wait until tomorrow before worrying yourself silly!!! It's normal to be anxious, I know just how you feel.

Good luck for tomorrow xx

Dear i wouldn't worry, the dr.'s told me i would never be able to have kids, and here i am 3-5 weeks pregnant. Yes it's normal for everything to get worse quickly! Trust me! Just let everything take its corse, and dont worry about it, too much stress could cause you to lose the baby! just relax and let the dr. figure everything out! you focas on having a baby in you and being healthy! good luck i hope this helps!

this early in the pregnancy if they did not do a vaginal probe ultrasound then the baby is way too small to be seen by a regular ultrasound. all they will see is the sac, I hope this eases your mind, when you go back demand a vaginal ultrasound! do not do anything if they just do a regular ultrasound. I wish you good luck and don't worry your baby is too small to see this way.

same thing happened to me, but a week later i had another pregnancy test and it was positive, so they did an ultrasound, and they then saw the heartbeat, it took a bit longer for the baby to show up, so maybe u are 5 weeks not 6, best of luck

You are going to feel worse by worrying!!!
Stop stressing, calm down&just rely on the doc to do his/her job.
You won't help matters by getting worked up also if your going to the hospital 2moz then chill out tonight nice warm bath, bubbles.
I have had three kids&all the pregnancy were diff with each so its just luck of the draw as to how sick you are or how big/small you are, everybody is diffrent!
good luck.

yes it is a possibility that the baby is not developing. there are pregnancy hormones still in ur body as technically u have not miscarried yet. if it was empty the chances of ur baby developing are low. contact ur gp again. sorry x
