They both have better records. And who knows what they would do if they were in the ACC. We will see how they fare come tourney time. ACC = Overrated.

I agree, it seems to me that the mid majors are getting overrated. Nevada and Southern Ill are both not very good in my opinon. I dont know if they would finish in the bottom of the ACC but they wouldnt be top 5 in the ACC. I think both of thoose teams will get upset in the second round.

You are exactly right. Nevada and Southern Illinois play lots and lots of lousy teams in their conference, and post gaudy records because of it. If they played in the ACC, they would be a 15 loss team, minimum.
And for the idiot who called the ACC overrated...I think this basketball season will play out a lot like the football season did. Remember how everyone thought Ohio State was great in football....until Florida DESTROYED them in the bowl game. Florida players said Ohio State would have been only about the 4th best team in the SEC, and looking at the results on the field, it would be a hard point to argue. The ACC is going to put up a TON of wins in the tourney this year, and NC should wind up as champions.

First: the rankings are meaningless.
Often, the rankings are merely an indication of how a team has played recently. SIU has won 13 of their last 14 games. Nevada 10 of 11.
In terms of RPI, SIU is #6 and Nevada #19.
For reference, 3 ACC teams are in the top 20:
UNC: #3 (6-4 in last 10 games)
Maryland: #10 (8-2 in last 10 games)
Duke: #14 (4-6 in last 10 games)
That being said, the Missouri Valley is not as easy of a conference as you would like to believe. Even last place Indiana State has wins over Butler(RPI 29) and Purdue(RPI 45).

The WAC is THE most under rated conference in the country. they have four teams with 20 or more wins. I can honestly say that nevada could beat every team in the ACC except for UNC. Clemson, Duke and B.C all fell a part towards the end of the year. the only consistent team has been UNC.

I think Fazekas (Nevada) and Tatum (SIU) and co. could beat the one man team of FSU, Wake Forest, and Clemson easily. I think that there are too many conference games that make it difficult to decipher how teams would match up against eachother. It is stupid that Nevada and SIU are ranked higher than UNC and possibly Maryland and UVA

Sorry, but they're better than at least half the teams in the ACC.

Although it is not perfect, the rating system trys to put the better teams higher in the rankings. Sometimes they get it right, like in this case.
