Can you uninstall the dvd and reinstall it ?

Go to Device Manager and delete the dvd driver(s) first, then restart the OS. If the driver doesn't reinstall itself, download it again from the acer or the microsoft website.

I had a problem like this
you can restore your laptop to how it was several weeks ago (or when it was last un-corrupted)

cant remember exactly how but you go ctrl alt delete to get task manager up, then click on file then on run and then you put in a special run task to restore computer. cant remember wht the run task is but you can find it somewhere on the net.

I'll try and have a look see if i can find it for you

Spend a few more pounds on an external drive, which you should already have if you value your investments, to backup all your software to and relaunch windows.
