Old saying… “Lay down with dogs and come up with fleas.”

Here is another one. “You are judged by the friends you keep.”

“The older you get, the dumber you get.”

Really, take a look at the past… Same old stuff decade after decade, eon after eon. Even though technology advances. People are the same. Sometimes the creative spirit moves in new ways. Heck, the Egyptians even had batteries… Maybe they didn’t invent the flashlight because there was no need for it.

Actually I think we are becoming more intelligent. What is happening to make us think that we are becoming more "Stupider?" is our rate of accelerated knowledge.
Our technology is growing so fast at such a vast quantity that it is outstripping our ability to keep up with it.
In other words, " we do not have the wisdom to control the power of our knowledge without hurting ourselves."
There is so much advancement in this world's technology that the human race as a whole: is like a baby with a live hand-grenade, sooner or later the ignorance of the child will pull the pin.
We aren't any more stupid that we were two thousand years ago, we just don't have the wisdom to properly care for what we have produced.

Maybe not more stupid, but more full of itself and perverse.

Think of a guy who just became a scientist and believes himself superior and doesn't want to listen to the advice of anyone. Even if it may be helpful. Although he is smart, he is ignorant at the same time. That's kind of like what the world is today. More advanced but yet more ignorant and egotistical at the same time.

Yes and I think its the internet to blame. The internet has made life a little too easy for some and has removed real face to face human interaction for many.

Additionally you have the sheep factor - there are many who are way too content with their lives and do not strive to be higher educated or to challenge themselves in any way.

I don't think people are getting dumber, just lazier. We used to have better education because governments insisted on it. Now, they could care less. A typical Japanese school kid can name US capitals better than US school kids! Somewhere along the line, people at the higher levels of responsibility stopped caring, and that's why people act like idiots. As for Bush...well, he IS an idiot! Just a rich idiot with connections, which is the worst kind!

well, let's say mathematicians have tried so hard to find a equation and he's a genius... but now we use the equation to find an answer...we just follow the equation, do we really understand the "real" way how the equation works... we jus follow those rules and ways, ...yes we indeed can find and answer but is it worth it...

so maybe the world is do gettin stupider...but hey, everybody has their own point of view.. ;)

Yes and no. Common sense is lacking in many people. But modern technology is far advanced. We cannot expect one to excell in many areas so I guess it balances out.
Future--I really hate to think with little common sense, what the future will be like. lol

No... actually the world is getting faster and faster day by day and as a result people do not devote enough time to reason out deeply enough.... the end result therefore is indeed stupidity, but not due to lack of intelligence, it is rather because of its misuse or under use.

Stupider than who, what, and when? It's been said that people consume more information from one day's worth of their daily newspaper, than they would have known in a lifetime in the seventeen hundreds.

I don't think it's the world, I think it's people, and I believe that the stupidity factor in human population is more or less constant...
