I couldn't agree with you more! Unfortunately, the sad fact is that for the majority of us "non-celebrities", it is so much easier to adopt a foreign child than a US child.

With any adoption, the adoptive family always has a fear that the biological parent will change their mind or try to take the child back. I have known several parents who have paid all of the fees for adoption only to find out at the end that the biological mother has changed her mind. They are heartbroken, financially destroyed, and have nothing to show for any of it. With international adoptions, some of those fears can be eliminated and it's almost as if you are "guaranteed" to have a child at the end of the process. It's sad, but unfortunately, it's true.

We were blessed to have adopted a little boy from here in the US, and I do believe that there are plenty of children here in the US that need homes, but the reality is that if we had to do it again, we would also explore international adoption.

You are correct. I can only think of two reasons:

1.They think they are getting positive press by adopting children from the third-world. After all adopting from the USA does not give the perception of being kind.

2. If a celebrity adopts in the third world there is little chance of any later lawsuits when the parent changes her mind. This happens a lot in the USA.

It is much easier to adopt a foreign child. To adopt an american child, there are a great many steps that must be completed. To adopt a child in a third world country, only requires enough money to circumvent the system.

Great kudos for bringing up this subject.

In addition to my three natural kids, We adopted two who were 10 and 11. I never regretted it. There were rough times, but it was, and still is, a wonderful experience (even though they are now adults).

And the majority of those stars should be banned from adopting those kids because they only do it for the publicity. And additionally, that is not a proper lifestyle for a child to grow up in.

Because they don't care about getting a kid that is older, how often can you find a baby that needs adopting, and then there is the fact that the child's parent can sometimes come in and get the child back if they want to, whereas oversees, you can find babies that can be brainwashed into your way of thinking, and how are those kids parents going to find them, and what rights do those parents have in our country, but simply it is so they can have a baby, look at them all, how often do you see someone adopt an older child from oversees

Good on you!!!

I refuse to take part in the 40 hour famine, but I always support any useful organisation that is part of my own country.

Must have something to do with publicity or perhaps it's just like grocery shopping to them.

Like when we go to the pound and pick out a puppy, we don't get one from overseas, even though there are animals worldwide that need love and care.

I don't think that some of these stars would make it through the background checks here in the United States. So it's easier to go out of the US.
