When I feel stressed, I feel that I can't breath and then I start thinking that I have asthma and it's so serious that I may die at this moment! (note: I don't have asthma)
A lot of times I start panicking and at that moment I feel like I am living my last moment!
This phobia led me in the past to have agoraphobia, I wanted to be in my house all the time! Now, I am very well, I have overcome this!

I suffer from dentophobia: fear of dentists. Because of this fear, I neglected to seek dental treatment as a young adult, (after I left the parental home) and experienced extreme periodontal disease resulting in the extraction of most of my teeth and the implementation of dentures. I have only six real teeth, and these are now in jeopardy.
Two weeks ago I was forced, through pain, to go to a dentist. Examination showed that I needed one tooth pulled, two fillings and cleaning/scaling of the five teeth remaining. On my first visit, my blood pressure was 149 over 70. My second visit showed a blood pressure reading of 163 over 79. I don't know where my fear of dental procedures originated; but, I have had the fear and anxiety since I was six. My mother took me and my three siblings to the dentist twice a year. I was always anxious and afraid. The shots used to numb me do not bother me; it is the sound of the drill. I anticipate the pain that might come, even though it doesn't.
Take me to a doctor, with the possibility of pain caused by physical examination or medical procedure, and I have no fear; but put me in a dentist's chair, and I become a basket case. I cannot explain my fear, nor do I have any concrete evidence that I was every mistreated by a dentist, but I am terrified when I have to have a dental procedure.

I was used to suffer from Allodoxaphobia- Fear of opinions, never could think my opinions are being appreciated or accepted, but i overcome it as i improved in my life quite mature....however i still suffer from some phobias, the major ones that disturb me alot are:
Atelophobia- Fear of imperfection
Athazagoraphobia- Fear of being forgotton or ignored
Autophobia- Fear of being alone
Usually we think that brave people have no fear. The truth is that they are intimate with fear. My friends used to say I am very brave and never showed panic at anything. But i feel what i fear from are above the little phobias they have in life. However, we need to overcome it at some point some day, but these phobias sound to me not controleable. Read the following, i always find this very encouraging though:
From what is dear, grief is born,
from what is dear, fear is born.
For someone freed from what is dear
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From what is loved, grief is born,
from what is loved, fear is born.
For someone freed from what is loved,
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From delight, grief is born,
from delight, fear is born.
For someone freed from delight
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From sensuality, grief is born,
from sensuality, fear is born.
For someone freed from sensuality
there is no grief
-- so why fear?
From craving, grief is born,
from craving, fear is born.
For someone freed from craving
there is no grief
-- so why fear?"
These are from the Dhammapada (a collection of sayings of the Buddha)

Being a hero is about the shortest-lived profession on earth.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong, is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong, it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

It's not a phobia as such but a strange repulsion. Ever since I was little I have hated thongs/flip flops; I hate the look, the feel, the smell and I especially hate the awful sound they make when people walk. I find it hard to even look at people wearing them! I refuse to walk past them in shops and I refuse to date a man who wears them. The thought of rubber on feet is so repulsive to me it's almost a phobia. I won't touch rubber gloves either.

I don't really have any strange phobias, but a friend of mine is afraid of human contact (i don't remember what that's called). He can't stand to even have someone tap him on the arm, and hugs are out of the question. It seems to have gotten worse in the past few years... At first I thought this was unheard of, but its really not as uncommon as it seems. Its kind of funny, because he's one of the bravest people I know.

I have fear of flying which is not so uncommon but I can handle it. That is, I might still be scared to death but I fly. I'm also scared of being put in a really tight and/or dark place (common too). I also hate spiders.
Roubini, you are suffering from panic attacks. I've had some of those too but I've learned to recognize them and I am usually successful at preventing them. Check the Internet for helpful suggestions.

I do not know if there is a name for my phobia, as i can't generalise it as other people can with theirs. Sometimes it's small things overlapping, like if you have a tin of buttons, seeds or needles and I can't look at the inside of a pumpkin O_o because it makes me physically sick and tearful. Weird i know, but its too had to describe properly, so i cannot find a name for it.

I'm developing a case of "doctor-phobia". It seems as I go to the doctor for specific matters, by the time I get out, the bill has mushroomed out of control due to their "concerns" for a lot of other medical issues that were of no concern of yours at all when you went in. As one of the uninsured of America, I don't want to fund the doctor's and his staff's lifestyles because the latest fad is to worry about this or that that some commercial lab has developed as a way to earn more research or just plain spending money. And as a middle-aged man, they seem to be coming up with more and more "problems" that we "must be having", like prostate cancer and sexual dysfunction. Funny thing is, I was doing just fine when I went in, but now that I've gone through "the process", I'm going to have to take a loan out to pay for all the doctor's and his staff's "concerns" about me. I remember when my daughter was born 21 and a half years ago, this doctor's staff made "official recommendation" that she get tested for "water on the brain" due to an "abnormally large skull". I couldn't believe it since I had been seeing this young doctor (he's two years younger than me, lol) for a few years by then, because my head, as a genetic thing, is slightly larger than average ( I need a size 7 and 7/8 or 8 cap which are hard to find as opposed to the standard 7 and 3/4 size, which is not much difference), and he had seen me several times professionally and in the community. When he told me of the recommended tests for my newborn daughter's skull size, I looked at him and said, "Doctor _____, Pay attention to who her father is, and then tell me what you think." He said, "Oh, yeah" and briefly laughed with me at his and his staff's obvious mistake over their "concerns". Considering my son had just been born 16 months earlier, and had the exact same skull shape as mine, clearly indicating that, as an adult he would have the same "over-sized" skull as I do, you might think that they would never have made those recommendations. He seems to be allowing his secretarial and nursing staff overstep their professional licensings, but, the outcome of my current issue with not just this doctor, but also one in another town whom I just left to return to this one, is, when does "modern medicine" care about what the patient is actually experiencing before they keep running up these lab bills for unnecessary tests. I know I'm of the "old school" that says, "If it's not broken, don't fix it." But, somehow, that seemed very fine "in my day". Now medical staff and lawyers are beginning to sound like those cheap used car salesmen of which all those proverbial, and insulting, jokes have been made. So, I may not know what name to give this "phobia" of mine, but it's got sound reasoning. God Bless you.
