I am a college student who have to print 100 B&W pages per month at max. It's not very important for me to print colored photos but if it does it would be nice. My cosiderations are the low price and the lowest secondary costs (e.g refilled costs). It's difficult for me to make up my mind whether to buy a B&W laser printer or a colored Inkjet? Can you help me to decide? Which one is more preferable for my usage? Thanks for your help.

If you are mainly going to print black and white, you'll just be wasting money with a color inkjet. Laser printers are built for business use and will last longer than an inkjet printer. Cost per print will also be much lower than an inkjet printer as well. For example:

To print 2000 pages on a B&W laser printer would cost $70.

To print 2000 B&W pages on an inkjet printer would cost $130.

If photos and color printing are not that important to you, definately consider a B&W laser printer.

Inkjet printer ink smudges very easily. Laser printers on the other hand are difficult to smear. Thus, if you are on your way to class, and it is raining, if you had printer the papers on a laser printer, you won't have to worry about a ruined term paper.

I would recommend to you the HP 1018 laser printer. This printer, if you buy it bran new, comes with a toner cartridge that will print 2,000 pages before it needs to be changed. This printer costs around $100, but you can find it cheaper if you look online at several places, like newegg.com. The replacement toner cartridge costs $70, but will last 7 times longer than any $20 inkjet cartridge will. You do the math. Another good thing about laser printers is the quality. You can use the cheapest paper you can find, and still get a better text quality than an inkjet. Anyway, I hope you find something to your liking.

see both printers are good but it depends how do you want to use it as deskjet printers are good for home use but if you want to take many print outs then i think laser printers are better
