Yes, it's possible to become pregnant while on the pill. Every contraceptive has a "failure rate". Admittedly the failure rate of the pill is very low but it isn't zero.

The pill can fail for a number of reasons - other medication you are taking may affect absorption (especially antibiotics), if you are suffering from nausea or any gastrointestinal upsets the pill may not be absorbed, or if a pill is missed altogether or taken out of sequence it can have an impact on the effectiveness.

One common cause of pill failure happens when women miss pills towards the end of their packet, in the belief that because they are due to have a period soon it doesn't matter. However this is the worst possible time to miss a pill as it extends the pill-free interval, and means that they may not take enough pills to stop ovulation in the following month. The worst possible time to miss a pill is at the beginning or end of the packet.

However, missing pills doesn't mean you WILL become pregnant. Even women who are not on the pill do not automatically become pregnant if they have unprotected sex. Even if you ovulate, and you are relatively young (under 35) then your chances of conceiving in any given month is about 20%. There's nothing necessarily wrong with you.

It took me 3 years to get pregnant when I went off the pill the first time. And I wasn't trying to get pregnant, but wasn't using any other protection either.

The second time it took me three months. And we used condoms for protection this time.

the pill is not 100 % effective. But it can sometimes take a long time to get pregnant when you stop taking it too. Also, sometimes it has nothing at all what so ever to do with you. Maybe there is something going on with your partner's parts.

The pill isn't 100%, so you still need to use protection. Try using a condom. When you take the pill AND use a condom, you are lowering your risk of pregnancy. But you can still get pregnant. There is always possibility when sex is involved!

yes you can still get pregnant on the pill, but if you are trying to get pregnant why are you taking the pill, u seem shocked that you havne't fallen pregnant when you missed 3 days i think for most on the pill that would be a blessing as the whole point of taking it is to stop pregnancy.

Yes it's possible. The chances are more rare than common, but it's always safe to use a condom along with the pill. Not only do you double your chances of not getting pregnant, but by using the condom you also help prevent the passing of any STDs.
