If you have not had intercourse then you are a virgin. If you yse tampons or do sports then its highly likely that the hymen is broken.

A large number of things will cause it to break - regardless of your status in the intimate world. It could happen while bike riding, horseback riding, even falling on ice when skating. It's just a thin membrane at the opening to the vagina.

For generations, it was believed that an intact hymen was a sure sign of virginity, but that has gone by the wayside in the wake of a great many studies. Any rigorous activity can cause the hymen to tear and/or break. If you are expecting an intact hymen to prove your virginity, think again.

Generally, you won't know it when it has torn or has broken. It was meant to do exactly that.

I knew mine was broken because I could feel the bits of skin around the edges of my vaginal opening whenever I have had to insert medication vaginally.

Yes, I am still a virgin. The proper and medical definition of a virgin is someone who has never had sex although it means something in different countries.

I could also sometimes see further in to my vagina with a mirror because of that broken hymen.

The hymen can break for a number of reasons such as a fall. In my case it was because of getting my first pelvic exam and pap smear at 18 when the dr I had at the time used the regular sized instrument called a speculum for that exam.

I am 35 and still a virgin.
