A starch example is Real Madrid, who still own the most expensive squad in the world, yet they are struggling for a CL spot in La Liga and will have a very hard time reaching the final stages in Europe.
Chelsea is headed the same way if they don't wisen up and start buying prospective young players and build a long-term vision for their club.
Arsenal, Valencia, Lyon - these are clubs that have stayed top not because they splash around hundreds of millions every year, but because they focus on buying young players and let them mature to first team status from generation to generation

Yes of course they are. Its worse in US sports (A Rod's $25M a season is a bit much isnt it?) but soccer players earn stupid money for playing a game
